Default [New Player] E/Rt question

Just a quick question about this profession mix, I have been playing for a week or so now and have found myself happy with this set up. So far I have leveled one to level 16, and have found myself testing builds out. After looking around these forums I feel like I've been completely missing out on half of this setup.

I usually stick around the fire skills from Ele just because there the ones that i think are the best. but people seem to be saying that you can do some sort of healing with RT skills (Haven't really understood about them.)

I play mainly solo and just recruit henchmen to go and quest with me atm, could anyone point me to a guide that would inform me of builds/ways I could play this setup.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

I didnt understand fully, but seems like you want a build for E/Rt healer. It's shit, but you can try it if you want.

Basically, use this skills: http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:N/Rt_SoLS_Healer
for first 2 optionals use Ether Renewal and that energy storage enchantment.

Not really looking for a healer build for it.

I didn't really need to explain anything.

I'm just reaching out to the community looking for some guides or forum posts about different ways that Ele/RT could be played.

[edit]

Before anyone says have a look around for yourself.

I have but quite a few were way too indepth and I didn't understand much of it. As I said I've only played for a week or so.

1. how far in the factions campaign are you?

2. besides the factions campaign, do you posses any other expansions?(prophecies/nightfall/eye of the north)

basically, if you are far enough into the game, at one point you will get the opportunity to change your secondary profession. this should be possible somewhere after the "nahpui quarter" mission (you have become weh no su?)
When you change your secondary profession, a whole new world opens up for your character. you get acces to much more skills.

ritualist as a secondary for elementalist is doomed. you'd be better of without it, as ritualists have poor energy management as a secondary.

Weh no su? is that Closer with the Stars? if so I am on that quest chain at the moment.

I've bought GW trilogy so I have all of them and will be buying Eye of the North once I get a level 20 character ( if I should get it before, please say )

And once I get to change my secondary, what would you suggest. I enjoy being a ranged caster dps, But while making my initial choice I thought about becoming a Ranger secondary due to the energy pool of the Ele to help ranger out a bit.

I am open to suggestions though

You could use a hard res (flesh of my flesh, death pact signet) from your secondary or some nice utility like weapon of warding or splinter weapon.

You can get to eotn if you have a lvl 10 character, and if you like the game I don't see a reason not to buy eotn asap.

You should use the secondary profession to enhance your primary profession. E/R doesn't sound like a good idea because eles can't really use ranger skills very well, a R/E though might work with some barrage build, not really recomended anyway.

Generally though you don't use secondary profession skills very much, maybe one or two in every other build. E/rit, E/Mo and E/para are the ones most commonly seen because those professions skills can actually be useful to a elementalist (the paragon is mostly seen in JQ, FA and AB due to the two skills "fall back" and "make haste").

I'm gunna go for a E/p build I think, the knock backs from Earth magic and FB & MH sound quite decent for pvp. I'll definitley have a play around with that build for a while.

Thanks for all the help guys. definitely appreciated

As stated once you complete closer to the stars you can change you secondary profession at any time. If you are going for titles for your hall of. Monuments once you buy eotn, you'll need to have all professions in order to get the skill hunter title. So whenever you. Have 500g go to the profession changer in senji corner. Pay him 500g for each profession and then you'll be able to change your secondary profession whenever you decide. And you can play around with the secondaries as you see fit.

In my opinion, you can pretty much ignore secondary profession skills in PvE once you have picked up some of these http://www.guildwiki.org/PvE_skills_quick_reference

PvP is a different kettle of fish

For no particular reason, and way back in the mists of time, I chose mesmer as my secondary when starting.....

With E/Rt you could try spiking within a small area with Spirit Rift + Chain/Invoke Lightning.

For the moment, just mess around creating your own build, thus secondary professions don't matter much. Later on, the most beneficial secondaries for a PvE Ele will be:

- /A: Assassin's Promise;

- /Me: Archane Echo (and Echo to a lesser extent), Auspicious Incantation;

- /Mo: ER protter/bonder builds.

During your experimentation progress, it's worth it to pick up the /A and /Me options as they can help a multitude of builds (not just the fine-tuned ones).

Keep doing what your doing, kill stuff with Fire!

Rt is nice for utility and if you want to use a spirit wrangler build (focuses on summoning many, many spirits to bombard enemies, usually all skills needed to play this build are available later on in the campaign). There are no obvious uses for speccing into rt skills if you are using ele skills though. It also has access to Flesh of my Flesh, a reusable (we call it a Hard-rez) resurrect

Use PvX as a resource to learn the jargan of GW and find some build ideas. I am not sure how many campaigns you have access to, so your mileage may vary.

If your interested in build crafting, use this resource, it can be found on Guru via a DL link:

It wouldn't be shit, you could spam everything like crazy. ER's can basically just spam everything on recharge.

Don't waste time on Archane Echo with Auspicious Incantation, as it's time that you could be using doing something while the rest of your party is doing something.
